This green “milkshake” is about to change the game. Its a great starter smoothie for a green-drinks novice, or for someone like me who wishes they could but just can’t get their palate around grassy drinks. You’d never guess its colour or nutritional profile (vegan and no added sweetener!) based on the vanilla milkshake-like taste, but that lovely green certainly makes you feel very virtuous in the morning.
This lentil dip / salsa speaks for itself. I like to serve it with Tostitos Scoops as a snack or an easy appetizer. Its also good on its own over quinoa or greens, to make a light lunch.
Yesterday I discovered coconut cream. I actually bought it months ago at a health food store (I shouldn’t be left alone in a health food store, there are so many things I want to try! I feel like they on purpose put everything good right at my eye level. It’s bad.). Anyway, naturally I was immensely pleased with my purchase and proceeded to put it in my cupboard and not think about it again until yesterday when I caught a glimpse of the back of my cupboard for the first time since I moved here.
This smoothie is for those of us who love the classic “breakfasty” taste of orange juice in the morning but want a fiber-rich, nutrient-packed, on-the-go breakfast.
I love ribs. Who doesn’t? I’m always so aware of the ridiculous amounts of sugar in the BBQ sauce though. Even when you make it at home, most recipes call for ketchup plus added sugar. I love this recipe from Foodland Ontario, that uses tomato sauce and maple syrup, and cooks the ribs with shredded cabbage.
Its been a few days since I posted a Mexican-style recipe, so obviously I’ve got to step up my game. I love the corn on the cob you get at Mexican restaurants, but its never enough! And also I hate when it gets stuck in your teeth. These two problems are solved in this amazing Mexican street corn.
This is the easiest salad in the whole world. Unlike most of my salads, it’s not a meal in itself. But it’s perfect as a side when you’re lacking greens. You only need 4 ingredients, and two of them are EVOO and white vinegar.
Potato salad is such a must for summer. I feel like it often gets a bad rap, because a lot of them are swimming in so much mayonnaise that they don’t even taste like anything. This salad only has 2 Tbsp mayo, and the dressing incorporates Dijon mustard so it has real flavour.
I flew home from Dublin yesterday, and took this granola in glass containers to eat on the plane. I bought some milk in the airport to take with me. Best plane food ever. It travels so well and kept me satisfied until I got home.
