Green Milkshake
This green “milkshake” is about to change the game. Its a great starter smoothie for a green-drinks novice, or for someone like me who wishes they could but just can’t get their palate around grassy drinks. You’d never guess its colour or nutritional profile (vegan and no added sweetener!) based on the vanilla milkshake-like taste, but that lovely green certainly makes you feel very virtuous in the morning.
I like keeping my smoothie greens in the freezer. If I’m organized, I’ll measure out portions and freeze them individually in little bags. If not, I’ll get a bag of washed spinach, throw the whole bag in the freezer, measure it out each day from frozen, and keep it closed with a rubber band. By the bottom of the bag, its mostly frozen spinach dust, but it works.
A lot of the smoothies I make have almonds in them, for healthy fats and to increase satiety, but there is no reason you can’t use almond butter instead. Whatever you have will do.
